Other sites on routes
When originally put on the web, there was little overview information of this sort at a national or international level available. Now, there are several other very relevant sites so, if you can't find what you're looking for here, try one of the following.
- for routes in Spain, by far the best site is that of the Federation of Amigos del Camino de Santiago, though see also the growing collection of detailed guides on the Mundicamino site
- the equivalent to the Federation in France is the Union Jacquaire de France, but there is not much information on routes on their site as yet. ACIR has overview info on some routes, and there is some other relevant information. There is also some overview mapping for SW France on the Association Régionale des Amis de Saint-Jacques de Compostelle en Aquitaine site
- for routes in Germany, Manfred Zentgraf now produces an overview map Jakobswege und andere Pilgerwege in Deutschland und den Nachbarländern. See his site for much additional information on routes (also sells an excellent selection of Camino-related books and maps). See also Wolfgang Meyer's site, and Thekla Schrange & Aloys Schäfer's site; and for more information on routes in SW Germany, see Wolfgang Meyer's book Jakobswege - Württemberg, Baden, Franken, Schweiz, and Der Weg nach Santiago: Jakobuswege in Süddeutschland by Wolfgang Lipp.
- in general, VTT Compostelle (cyclist-oriented, but much info of use to walkers too)
- though not specifically on routes, the Fondation David Parou Saint-Jacques site contains much of interest on the historical development of the routes and the modern Camino cult, particularly in France.
Other sites
- for asking questions and advice, there are many web forums around. One I contribute to is pilgrimage-to-santiago.com
- I also contribute to the Pilgrim Wiki
- Finally, for nostalgia - yes, the good old days - here's some advice written in 1978
