An alternative to the Schwarzwälder Jakobsweg linking St Jakob in the Kinzigtal with Thann on the Alsace route, via Freiburg-im-Breisgau and Breisach, is being developed by the Badische Jakobusgesellschaft. Renate Florl and Hans-Jörg Bahmüller have written a guide, and there is detailed mapping on their website; they also produce a guide to an alternative route from Breisach to the Alsace route near Colmar.
