Vézelay-Limoges-Ostabat
Via Lemovicensis
900km (approx)
- The Amis et Pèlerins de Saint-Jacques de la Voie de Vézelay have concentrated on the historic line of the route with 2 alternatives, one via Nevers and one via Bourges, in the E part, and 2 variants further W, via Brantôme and via Bergerac. The route is marked with the European scallop-shell logo, and a guide is available: Itinéraire Pèlerin de Saint-Jacques sur la Voie de Vézelay with full mapping and accommodation lists. A network of pilgrim refuges is also being created. See their website for the current status on waymarking.
There is a complete guide of the route through the Landes on the Société Landaise des Amis de Saint Jacques site. The Pyrénées-Atlantiques Amis de St Jacques describe their section in a Guide du Bourdon and on their website. The Conseil Général produce a leaflet for the section through the Gironde La Voie de Vézelay en Gironde, but the route this follows differs somewhat from that in the Amis guide. - The Fédération Française de la Randonnée Pédestre (FFRP) has marked a much longer walkers route as the GR654, waymarked with red and white stripes. This route concentrates less on the historic line and after Périgueux runs south to the GR65 at Montréal-du-Gers.
