Austria
The 280km main route of the Adlerweg crosses Tirol from St Johann in Tirol to St Anton am Arlberg, and was officially opened in June. Add to this regional spurs and an additional route in Osttirol, and you get 1480km of walking through the Tirol Alps. The eagle is the symbol of both Tirol and Austria, and the representation of the main route on a map is supposed to look like an outstretched eagle.
Spain
As part of the celebrations for the 4th centenary of the publication of Don Quijote, Castilla la Mancha has created a 2,500km network of 10 largely interconnecting routes, intended for walking, cycling and horseriding. The website includes overview brochures and more detailed descriptions for downloading. You can also download a PDF version of a special centenary edition of the novel (in Spanish, of course).
